24 Haymarket backs £10m funding for patient engagement platform DrDoctor

YFM has led a £10m investment into healthtech company DrDoctor along with Ananda Impact Ventures and 24 Haymarket

DrDoctor was founded in 2012 by Tom Whicher, Rinesh Amin and Perran Pengelly and provides digital care solutions to increase communication and engagement between patients and clinicians, managing 25 per cent of NHS outpatient appointments.

The British Business Bank’s Small Business Finance Markets 2022/23 report shows £35.5bn of bank lending came from challenger and specialist banks in 2022. This exceeded lending by the major banks during the period, giving challenger and specialist banks a 55% share of the market.

Sourcerie, which is building a community-driven data platform and personalisation software for the beauty industry, closed a £1.8m pre-seed round last year co-led by Playfair Capital and Vorwerk Ventures. 

A number of notable angels with relevant operational experience participated, including Sandrine Deveaux, EVP Future Retail at Farfetch, Mandeep Singh, exited Co-Founder of Trouva, Renee Parker, Ex Head of Amazon Luxury Beauty, Vanessa Goddevrind, ex EMEA Head of Beauty for McKinsey, Jason Scott, ex Head of Google’s US Startup Ecosystem, and Joe Falter, Co-founder of Zapp and ex Jumia founding team member.

Fitness game firm Quell raises $10m led by Tencent

Quell, the UK-based fitness gaming developer and publisher pioneering the future of fitness gaming technology, has announced the completion of a $10m Series A funding round led by Tencent with follow-on investment from Khosla Ventures, Heartcore Capital, Social Impact Capital and entrepreneur Naval Ravikant. This latest round brings Quell’s total financing to $15.6m.
