Halo Therapeutics raises £1.5m to bring first antiviral spray into clinic

Clinical trials of an easy-to-use home therapeutic treatment for SARS-CoV-2 (coronaviruses), developed by Cardiff based Halo Therapeutics, are underway following a £1.5 million investment led by the Development Bank of Wales alongside Science Angel Syndicate (SAS) members and the KBA Group.

Encare raises €1.5m EUR to advance surgical care with innovative SaaS solution

SWEDEN: The Swedish health tech company Encare has secured funding of EUR 1.5 million to support the company's continued expansion, product development, and entrance into new international markets. Encare's SaaS solution supports healthcare providers in implementing best practices for surgical care to improve patient outcomes. Existing shareholders, together with some new, through the Sciety network, took part in the financing round.

Oxford Innovation backs biometric implant businesses OSSTEC

Oxford Innovation EIS Growth Fund alongside OION angel investors, have invested in the £1.2 million oversubscribed funding round for OSSTEC, the orthopaedics company developing bone healing implants.

Its patented platform technology, proven over 8 years of research and development at Imperial College London, reduces implant loosening and bone loss post-surgery. OSSTEC’s world leading team combining engineers and surgeons, has developed the first fully porous implants to stimulate long-term bone growth.

Nanovery secures over £1.85 million for cancer diagnostic solution

A Newcastle-based company has raised over £ 1.85 million of funding to help its quest to save more lives through better testing for prostate cancer.

The funding includes £500,000 investment from the North East Innovation Fund, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Northstar Ventures alongside investment from Prostate Cancer Research together with and investment of £250,000 from JR Holding ASI, and £305,000 from angel investors. On top of this investment Innovate UK awarded the company a grant of £750,000 to develop its disease screening activities.

QV Bioelectronics wins £860k funding for its innovative brain tumour treatment

QV Bioelectronics, creators of an innovative surgically implanted Electric Field Therapy (EFT) device for the treatment of brain tumours, has been awarded a £860,000 grant under the Combined Investor Partnerships Award. This follow a successful £2m Pre-Series A fundraising round in January 2023, which included a number of angel investors. 

The award from Innovate UK takes the total amount of grant funding awarded to QV to £1.8m, which includes an ongoing Innovate UK Biomedical Catalyst Award and previous support from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Innovate UK SMART.

Venture Capital firm, QVentures, has made a pre-seed fund investment into Presentient Technologies, a software platform developing innovative tools for companies running clinical trials. The funding round was led by QVentures with participation from Episode1 and industry angels.

Belfast-based cancer diagnostics company GenoME Diagnostics has closed a £1.4 million funding round with investment from QUBIS, the commercialisation arm of Queen’s University, Co-Fund NI (managed by Clarendon Fund Managers) and Deepbridge Capital.
